How to Increase Your Energy Levels at Work

Maintaining your energy throughout the day can be difficult, especially if you are stuck in an office environment for eight hours. It is extremely easy to lose focus if your job position is redundant each and every day. Some people deal with a lack of energy by consuming sugary sodas, chocolate sweets or caffeine laden drinks. However, that is not a permanent solution to the problem. It simply provides you with an hour long oomph which is shortly followed by a sugar-induced crash. That is why it is important to be aware of the numerous healthy ways of improving your energy at work.

One way that you can increase your energy at work is by varying your tasks. Doing the same task over and over again will definitely bring on a feeling of grogginess.  That is why it is wise to interrupt mentally demanding projects with simple busywork. Also be sure that you take quick ten minute breaks every couple hours. You can either close your eyes for several minutes or take a minute to chat or joke around with a co-worker.

You can also increase your energy levels with proper nutrition. Making a few changes to the diet you are currently consuming can definitely make a difference. Eating more fruit, vegetables, and whole grains is very important. Fresh and light products, such as fruit, will never leave you feeling sleepy and heavy as most fried and fast foods tend to do. As a matter of fact, certain fruit are so rich in fiber that they will improve your energy levels naturally, without the use of caffeine and without the sugary crash! Consuming sweets and sugar laden sodas will only increase your waist line and lead you to buy some of the best diet pills online. So if you are trying to lose weight or simply maintain a healthy nutrition, do not rely upon sweets as your energy boost. These are just a few tips to help you remain productive at work.

16 Ideas to Improve Physical Activity at Work

It has been noted that 60%-70% of Americans do not engage in physical activity or an exercise program. Study shows that while nutrition is a significant factor in losing weight, physical activity is essential to maintain the weight lost, in addition to helping to prevent heart disease, stroke, some forms of cancer and diabetes. Any corporate wellness program needs to address physical activity of its employees.

Increased employee physical activity can be put into use while promoting wellness activities among individuals or in groups. Below are 16 ways to promote a healthier lifestyle at work:

Organizing walking clubs.
Encouraging the use of the stairways.
Making the workday schedule flexible so that employees can indulge in exercises.
Offering employees ten minute breaks to regularly take walks.

Offering pedometers.
Providing two sets of written resources on physical activity.
Distributing newsletters containing tips on exercises.
Advertising messages on physical activity via official statements, office mail, email.
Engaging speakers to encourage and espouse the benefits of physical activities.

Providing daily tips on ways of increasing physical activity via email based programs.
Offering employees with facilities to keep log of all activities.
Offering incentives in the form of competitions and prices to promote activities.
Rewarding nominally-priced wellness reminders.

To conclude very few people fulfill the principles which put stress on 30 minutes of moderate to intense physical activities for a minimum of 5 days every week. Fewer people fulfill the principles of practicing weigh loss for 60 minutes every day. The tips outlined above to encourage physical activity at workplaces may be an ideal way of bettering the quality of living of the workers.

Self-Coaching Tip – Stay Focused at Work

p>Being productive at work is directly dependent on your ability to focus on your current activity. I cringe when I think about how much time I have wasted thinking about where I was going to go for lunch! Those thoughts would start as soon as I got to work and would keep bubbling up until I actually arrived at the restaurant. I accomplish a lot more at work when I spend those distracted moments focusing on completing my activities instead. This same logic applies to how many times I stop to check Outlook for new e-mails. Rarely do I get an e-mail that cannot wait a few hours to be read. Staying focused is a skill that you must learn and continually practice. Below are steps for increasing your productivity by increasing your ability to focus.

Your mind will wander less if you know that you have captured your commitments and that you are actively working on completing them.

Clear your desk of distractions. Shut your door to discourage interruptions. Mute your phone, beeper and/or cell phone. Get a comfortable chair.

Turn off the radio, Pandora, or your iPod. Log out of your instant messaging software, Facebook, or your favorite internet site. Mute your computer so that you will not hear when new messages arrive.

Many of us feel guilty if we are not working one hundred miles an hour while multi-tasking but as we begin to see beneficial results from focused work, we will begin to feel less guilty and more satisfied. It may take some practice before you are able to completely focus on one activity. When other thoughts come up, simply notice the thoughts and then release them.

When the time period is up, finish your current task. It is more important that you complete the task than it is for you to adhere to the fifty minute guideline. As your ability to stay focused grows, gradually increase the length of your work period.

Get out of your chair and move around. Do a few light stretches. Clear your mind. Don’t think about what you are working on. This break will allow you to recharge your battery so that you can fully focus during the work period.

How To Work At Home and Stay Productive

While we all love the freedom and flexibility of working from home, sometimes the distractions of life can drive us nuts.  With getting your kids ready, the animals running around, getting laundry done, making sure the trash is out for the garbage man, family members calling and the TV going we can often times find ourselves putting our business on the backburner.

We need to first , you are not only person who is facing productivity issues in their business.  People who are used to working outside the home with bosses, attending meetings and deadlines, it can be extremely difficult to adjust to working from home with complete control over how your day is spent.  It is nice to work when you want and relax when you want however it is very important to find the right balance and to minimize the distractions that will interfere with our working.

I wanted to share with you some of my favorite ways that I personally stay productive in my business yet still have the time to be with my family and have some fun!  We all have time management issues at time that can be disastrous so be sure to read up on productivity and time management tips and utilize the advice given below.

The best way for us to keep our focus is to have some structure in our day.  Yes we are the “BOSS” and we are in “CHARGE” but we want to be in charge of something great.  It is very easy to create your to do list and you can use programs like Microsot Outlook, sheet of paper, Blackberry or a virtual office.  Write down what you want to accomplish for the day, week and month.  Doing this will help keep you focused and on track.  When you complete something off your list you will feel a sense of accomplishment.  With setting your daily, weekly and monthly goals you will be able to track your growth as with each small accomplished goal you are brought that much closer to the accomplishment of your larger goals.
~ To me this is a BIG one.  This could be a make or break for your business.  I know from past experience!  When I first began working from home I didn’t have a schedule and my business went into “hobby mode”.  Always remember that if you want to receive business results you must always work as a business.  Setting a schedule will help you to determine your “play time” vs your “work time”.  We can waste a lot of time without a schedule  If you wake up in the morning and get your cup a java and sit down to check your email and surf a few blogs and then look at the clock to start working it might be lunch time.  You’ve then wasted your entire morning!  So, create your schedule of family, work, house, personal time, web surfing time.  Doing this you’ll find your day is much more productive.
The ideal work place would be an office with a door that could be shut.  Many people do not have that luxury though and so you will want to find a “quiet” corner in the den, spare bedroom or master suite.  This is the place you will call “your office”.  You will share with your family that when you are working your “schedule” and you are in “your office” you are there to work and are not to be distracted.  Your office should have a computer, phone and office chair.  You want to be able to relax a bit while you are on the phone talking business.  Not every person wants to sit and look at their computer while on the phone so if you can put up a pretty picture to look at it could help to relax you on the call.  In many instances a picture of a person or even a mirror will help you to give a better presentation.  You are able to “TALK To: an actual face that way.
We like to do all that we can but we need to set limits for ourselves.  If we are used to always saying yes then we will become so busy in our business and our life that we don’t have time to enjoy or live our life.  The reason why most of us choose to work from home is so we have extra time to spend with our family.  So, understand that its ok to say “no” and to set limits for yourself.  Figure out what is most important to your family and your business and those are what you will say “yes” to.
With taking a break you will be able to rejuvenate and refresh your mind.  Once you’ve taken your break you’ll be better prepared to get some work done.  If you take a 15 or 20 minute break you might want to take a brisk walk.  Not only will you get a break from working but you’ll get some fresh air and some exercise.  Take care of yourself while you are taking care of your family and your business.  You can also take a 15 or 20 minute nap if your kids are at school or napping themselves.  You don’t have to constantly be moving to be productive.  You will be able to get so much more done if you are refreshed and you’ve had a moment to clear your mind.

When working from home it is important to not only be persistent and consistent but also have self-discipline.

Make the commitment.  That commitment  be to !  When I first joined I didn’t have the commitment, I was the person that was used to being told when to work and when to take off.  It took me 11 months to figure out that I needed time management and a schedule.

Another thing that helped me was to do first what I wanted to put off until last!  Get the harder things out of the way first because then everything else on your list will be easy.

Have you ever read the book “Eat That Frog” by Brian Tracy?  If not I encourage you to pick up a copy because it will really help you.  Don’t be a procrastinator!  Build your business for you and your family.  You chose to work at home for a reason and you are in  of your life and your future income so why not make the most of it!

Five Myths How The Heart ?should? Work

>
While human affairs, food is made daily activities and sleep, his heart constantly and seamlessly works. It beats with a frequency of 100 000 beats per day, 37 million in the year and about 3 billion impact in the life. His work is not always steady. It is likely that sometimes the pulse to be amplified for no apparent reason. You might occasionally feel palpitations or how your heart jumps. When this happens, ask yourself: Is it Normal?

At first glance this question seems elementary, but actually is not so, especially if you are not aware of at least the most important facts about heart rate and rhythm. Below are five common and widespread misconceptions and the truth about them.

Myth № 1: irregularly heartbeat means that going through a heart attack

It almost never is. Even if sometimes it is quite normal to feel how your heart skips beats or irregular. If the heart rhythm track of each person long enough you will notice that his heart sometimes skips or is reduced further. In the absence of accompanying symptoms (pain behind the sternum or shortness of breath), these phenomena do not mean anything, much less attack. If the feeling of palpitations or jumping is new to you or is rising lately, this may indicate the presence of irregularly heartbeat (arrhythmia).

Most of arrhythmia are relatively harmless. This does not mean, however, that should be ignored completely. Some types of irregularly heartbeat can put you at increased risk of heart attack, cardiac arrest and sudden death. It is important to tell your family doctor about your heart irregularly, especially if it is new or frequent relapses.

Irregular heartbeat atrial of the heart are more common and fortunately with a better prognosis, while the cameras are more dangerous. The most common arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation are at increased likelihood that the occurrence of further heart attack. Atrial fibrillation to be able to prove the conduct of electrocardiogram (ECG).

Myth № 2: fast heartbeat means that you have a lot of pressure

Stress can really rise your pulse, sometimes forcing the heart to beat more than 100 times per minute – a condition called tachycardia. But smoking or consuming caffeine can also cause rapid heartbeat and dehydration, fever, anemia and thyroid diseases.

Anyone experiencing tachycardia for no particular reason, should consult a doctor. Even values of heart rate around the upper limit of normal may be disturbing. Practice has shown that heart rate above 85 beats per minute in calm condition may be a symptom of more serious health condition. Furthermore, the cause of tachycardia is often irregular heart activity.

In some cases, heart to increase to 200 beats per minute, then cause symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness and pale. When the heart rate rises above 130 beats per minute for a long time, pumping function of the heart weakens. The good news is that losing weight is suspended after the normalization of the pulse. This is usually achieved with drug therapy or procedures in which the heart reaches the brief high voltage. Some patients even require the destruction of small areas of cardiac tissue where it originated irregular heartbeat.

Myth № 3: healthy heart at rest beats at a frequency of 60 to 100 beats per minute

Right, this is normal heart rate for adults. But the upper frequency range that may present an increased risk of serious health problems.

A large number of studies have shown that increased heart rate constant (even at the upper limit of normal) increases the risk for the following diseases:

• ischemic heart disease;

• heart attack;

• sudden cardiac death.

Recently a group of Norwegian scientists have found that any increase in heart rate with a 10 minute beats and increased risk of heart attack – women 18% and for men – 10 percent. In addition, a recent Japanese study suggests that pulse higher than 80 beats per minute at rest is associated with higher risk of obesity and heart disease in the future. On the other hand, diabetes and obesity are risk factors for heart.

These studies have not shown that high resting pulse causes a heart attack, obesity or diabetes, but in combination with other risk factors, it can lead to a predisposition.

However, the optimal values of heart rate and when it risks to our health? None yet reached consensus on the answers, but most doctors agree with the fact that heart rate above 90 beats per minute is unsafe.

To determine your heart rate at rest, worried forefinger and middle finger of one hand on the bottom of the wrist under the thumb of the other. Press gently so as to feel a pulse. Count strokes per minute or 30 seconds, then multiply by two. To be at rest, provide their full 10 minute break before the measurement.

Myth № 4: slow heart rate is typical for weak hearts

Many people believe that if their heart rate is low, they are on the verge of their heart completely stopped. In fact just the opposite.

The heart is a muscle and, like any other muscle, the hypertrophied and becomes stronger with regular physical activity. The stronger the heart is, so his work is more effective. In each contraction it pushes a large volume of blood and therefore needed fewer strokes per minute. Therefore, heart rate at rest minute under 60  is likely to be strong and healthy. For example, well-trained athletes typically have a heart rate between 40 and 60 beats per minute.

In fact, slow heart slow heartbeat, which does not cause other symptoms is not cause for concern.

However, bradycardia in adults can be a sign of heart disease. Some medications, including beta-blockers and other cardiovascular drugs may also cause a delay of cardiac activity, which is not physiological. Symptoms of bradycardia include fatigue, dizziness and pale.

Myth № 5: As my heart rate is normal, my blood pressure must also be the norm

There is no correlation between heart rate and blood pressure.

One can have normal heart rate at rest and still suffers from on high blood pressure. And in other cases, pathological heart rate is associated with normal blood pressure. Loads can be tiresome at times increased heart rate while blood pressure will be affected to a lesser extent.

How To Ensure That You Become Productive And Remain Productive When You Work From Home!

It can be extremely easy to find yourself distracted when you have a work at home job. So it is important that you figure out a way that you can get your job done with less distractions and become a more productive work at home employee.

Of course the first thing is to try and make sure that the area you work in is quiet. Do your best to get away from the things that might distract you, the TV would be a prime example. Also make sure that the work area doesn’t contain a bunch of clutter, this can be quite distracting.

You should be comfortable in the area you are working in. If this means spend a little money on a really good chair then you should do it. You are not going to be very productive if you find yourself squirming around all the time because your chair isn’t very comfortable.

Make sure that you set up a work schedule for yourself that includes real breaks. Real breaks means move away from the computer, go walk around the house, go outside, take a walk down the block but whatever you do, don’t sit at the desk during your break. That doesn’t do much good. Let’s say you work a regular eight hour shift so this means you should take two different 15 minute breaks and a lunch.

A good idea is to set a timer and pretend it’s a race against time and see how much work you can get done in an hour, in 30 minutes or in 20 minutes. After you do little timed spurts like this, take a five or ten minute break as a reward for doing a good job.

You should not set goals for yourself that simply cannot be accomplished. If you try to do too much you are only going to set yourself to fail and eventually you will become discouraged. So set your goals lower and that way you won’t be too hard on yourself.

You should consider grouping tasks that are similar together, for instance if you are a writer and have different topics and need a certain amount of articles for each topic, try and do all of the articles for one topic before you move onto the next topic. If you switch from topic to topic without finishing all of the articles in one topic this could actually become distracting.

It’s always a good idea that the night before you sit down and plan out the next day. This could just be an outline but make sure that you cover all of the bases. You should include all the things you need to do for work as well as anything you might need to do around the house or any errands you may need to run.

Make sure to never rush through your work, remember those who you are doing work for would rather see quality than quantity if the quantity is of poor quality.

Mean Mom’s New Years DC Work Day

As of 4 p.m. today, I have written and uploaded 4 New Years DC articles, and this is my fifth. I began writing the first article at 10:55 a.m.; I finished uploading it at 11:23 a.m.. Then, I checked emails until about 11:40 a.m. before taking a forty minute nap break.

From 12:20 p.m. until 12:45 p.m., I wrote an article about Washington dc new year’s. I took a thirty-five minute lunch break after I wrote the article. Before uploading it, I checked emails. The emails took ten minutes to work through, and the uploading process took two or three. Plus I checked the approval status of my previously uploaded articles to make sure they were all posted.

Between getting off my lunch break at 1:20 p.m. and starting my next article, I checked emails sporadically to keep the inbox clear. That totaled fifteen extra minutes. I started writing my third New Years DC article of the day (it had to do with potty training) at 2:40 p.m. The writing and uploading process took about thirty-three minutes total.

Afterward, I took a five minute potty break. It took approximately twenty minutes to write and upload my fourth article of the day. The main keyword for that article was New Years Eve in DC. Much like this article, that article was about my life as Mean Mom. It also went into detail about what I have done today.

I took a thirty minute break following that. Then, I spent sixteen minutes checking and answering emails and returning calls before deciding to start writing this article. So far, I have spent twenty-seven minutes writing this article which I have decided to title Mean Mom’s New Years DC Work Day; it is now a few minutes after 5 p.m. When I finish writing this article, I will upload it. I will check emails after that to get them out of the way so that I can eat a snack. I will try to write at least one or two more articles before today is over. Hopefully I will not be burnt out for the day after this one.
